SB Nation is looking for candidates to staff our network-wide news desk, designed to cover all parts of the country. The news desk will support SB Nation?s regional sites and team sites with sports news coverage. Candidates will be covering breaking sports news and updating existing stories. As a secondary duty, the news desk staff also handles basic, planned news-based posts.
Duties: Candidates are responsible for creating new StoryStreams covering breaking news, updating existing StoryStreams with news, writing planned content via our Assignment Desk tool, and scouring the Internet for stories to write about in support of their cluster of SB Nation regional sites. Each candidate will help cover multiple sports across multiple regions. Candidates will coordinate with editors of regional sites, league managers that control content on the team-specific sites and general assignment editors.
Background and qualifications: This is an entry-level position in sports media. Candidates with experience producing sports news content are preferred in either an intern, academic or professional capacity. A journalism degree (or degree in-progress) is preferred but not required. Strong knowledge of sports and a demonstrated ability to write in an online environment are musts.

Hours: Newsroom writers will work in four-hour shifts, which run from 8 a.m. - midnight local time, seven days a week. Shifts include mornings, afternoons, late nights and weekends. Schedules change from time to time based on the sports calendar.
