Responsbilites:
Engage in proactive and reactive network/systems monitoring.
Upon receipt of network trouble conditions, follows procedures to validate and classify impact, perform basic troubleshooting and notify appropriate personnel.
Enters new trouble tickets, assigns existing tickets and keep users informed of status.
Engage in activities to further advance the monitoring platform such as creating network maps, rack diagrams.
Generate reports for engineering teams such as bandwidth utilization, CPU performance, and network status.
Performs proactive health checks as part of normal surveillance.
Smoothly transfer information at the end of each shift with other NOC staff about any outstanding issues and tasks.
Work to ensure that procedures are well documented and understood.
Update process documents and internal knowledge base.
Create, adjust and maintain monitoring rules.
Help other teams with projects as time permits.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Provide assistance, support, and feedback to other team members.
Identify and communicate multiple issues directing them to the proper channels
Provide quality assurance for changes and projects, which may result in deliverables ready for QA by a Senior Engineer or Manager.
Directly and effectively communicate.
Think critically and methodically troubleshoot.
Consistently effect professional and personal growth with minimal supervision or direction.
Generously support co-workers and provide leadership even when not cast in a leadership role.
Over-communicate to co-workers, supervisors, and clients those issues which may negatively impact the successful outcome of a project.
Basic understanding of Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Basic understanding of Red Hat/CentOS Linux
