Fluidigm is seeking a bright, enthusiastic New Product Introduction Lead with a proven record of bringing successful, commercial instruments to the market. In this position, you will work on transitioning instruments from R&D to manufacturing in the Life Science industry.
Candidate will work closely with the internal design team to create and execute the plan for instrument validation and release. To accomplish these tasks, the candidate will apply skills and lead a team focused on the areas of system engineering, test engineering, supplier management and manufacturing documentation. There will be daily interaction and collaboration with the R&D team, Manufacturing Engineering and select outside partners and suppliers to successfully transition the instrument from R&D to production as a product that can be routinely produced, tested, and supported in a quality fashion. As products reach design maturity, the candidate will train and support manufacturing engineers and technicians through Pilot production.
Candidate must be a self-starter, motivated, capable of handling multiple requirements at one time, work well in a team environment with excellent written & verbal communication skills. Candidate must also have a record of transitioning new and creative products to manufacturing on a defined schedule.
The position?s home base can be located in either South San Francisco or Singapore and in either location will require extensive travel with extended residency in both locations depending on project and transition stage.
Five years of experience in complex product transitions.
Significant experience in life science and/or industrial instrumentation field.
System engineering knowledge in order to provide constructive feedback to the design team and to train the manufacturing engineering team.
Proven track record in the management of small teams in a development environment.
Experience in the field of selecting and managing suppliers and supply chains including high technology components and outside labor and testing partners.
Capable of sourcing manufacturing tools and metrology which are appropriate for production.
BS or MS in Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
Experience with Microsoft Project and other project planning tools
Experience with mechanical design tools (SolidWorks)
Experience with the ECN process
Familiarity with MRP/ERP systems
