Job Description
We are seeking a highly versatile Online Marketing Manager who will implement, analyze, and optimize paid and natural search engine marketing (SEM) activities. This position will play a key role in lead generation; integrating search with other digital acquisition channels including email, social, and display. This position will join a world-class marketing team at our NYC headquarters and will report to the Senior Manager of Online Acquisition.
The ideal candidate must possess a strong background in SEM, SEO, and web analytics. This role requires the ability to operate on both a strategic and tactical level, touching all aspects of the search marketing roadmap including keyword development, campaign messaging, bidding strategies, creative testing, and analytics.
Responsibilities
Act as a business manager of the SEM channel with full P&L, budgeting, and forecasting responsibility. Track, report, and analyze all SEM initiatives and campaigns.
Manage the day-to-day search marketing activities across multiple search engines (i.e. Google, Yahoo!, Bing) including planning, implementation, budget management, performance review, and paid search campaign optimization.
Research keywords (discovery and expansion), review and edit creative copy (titles and descriptions), analyze website performance metrics, and optimize campaigns.
Grow and optimize our keywords portfolio through testing (A/B and multivariate) with ad copy, landing pages, bidding strategies, negative keywords, etc.
Develop near- and long-term SEM account strategies and roadmaps; and execute day-to-day tactics that optimize site traffic, lead conversions, and ROI.
Identify and report on KPIs and opportunities for improvement.
Develop a strong understanding of our software?s features and competition to create an associated keyword expansion roadmap, working with the marketing team to develop relevant ads and landing page content.
Drive continued innovation and best practice implementation, regularly sharing your knowledge with the marketing team and top executives.
Collaborate cross-functionally (with product marketing, creative, product management, engineering) to implement SEO recommendations such as:
Keyword research and specifications throughout site pages
Site audits for SEO best practice compliance
IA and site design recommendations
Navigation and conversion analysis
Link analysis and building
Resolving issues with JavaScript, Flash, CSS, etc.
Organizational and process enhancements that support SEO
Integrate strategies into other channels such as email marketing and social media
Stay current with new advances in SEM, the competitive landscape, and keyword research
Requirements
Bachelor's degree required; Business or Marketing major preferred
3-5 years? experience managing paid and natural search programs
SMB Marketing experience a plus
Hands-on knowledge of best practices in SEM and a proven track-record of delivering qualified traffic from both acquisition and conversion standpoints
Exceptional copy writing and editorial skills
Strong analytical skills with ability to drive meaningful actions from large data sets
Fundamental knowledge and experience with web analytical tools and interfaces (i.e. Coremetrics, Webtrends, Google Analytics, Omniture)
Web platform experience including content management systems (Drupal is a plus)
Proficiency in MS Office - especially Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
High-level organizational skills with attention to detail and focus on quality of results
Takes accountability and ownership of his/her own work
