Operations Engineer PivotLink
The Operations Engineer has a thorough understanding of SaaS Data Center operations and demonstrates proficiency in Red Hat/CentOS Linux, infrastructure operations management tools, OS image creation/deployment, patch/security standards, monitoring check creation and document/ procedural creation. The ideal candidate must be detail-oriented, possess excellent organizational and analytical skills and able to work well in a fast-paced dynamic SaaS environment. He/she should be a self-starter, able to demonstrate sound judgment and resourcefulness in decision making and problem solving, be able to think and work independently, as well as in a team setting, and accurately report project status to project management. Excellent interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills are a must.Responsibilities
Configure and tune system and network parameters for optimum performance in SaaS environment
Monitor system stability, performance, and security
Help develop tools to build, maintain, and monitor systems
Ensure 24x7x365 operation
Rapidly scale systems to meet demand
Participate in architecture decisions
Write comprehensive documentation
Requirements
5 years? experience as a Linux or UNIX Administrator
3 years? experience with REL/CentOS 4, 5 or 6
Experience with Jetty / Apache / Tomcat, Nagios, KVM, Xen, and VMware ESX
Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL, including performance tuning at OS level
Good understanding of SSH, NFS, and TCP/IP
Scripting experience ? shell, Perl, Python
Experience with Puppet or Chef Configuration management tools and processes
Background in ASP/SaaS environments
Understanding of multi-tiered web architecture, load balancers, HA firewalls, & VLANs and software development lifecycle
Excellent communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills
Ability to multi-task, work independently & calmly under pressure and/or stress
24x7 on call and remote support experience (this position will require an on call rotation).
