Mindspark is looking for an Operations Engineer to join our team. As a team member in our highly entrepreneurial environment you will be expected to move quickly, collaborative effectively and solve challenging technical problems gracefully. The successful candidate will be self motivated, self disciplined and thrive on working technical challenges through to resolution in a 24x7x365 production environment. They will work well as a member of a highly technical team, yet can manage and schedule their time efficiently to stay busy with little managerial oversight.
WHY WE WANT YOU:
? 2+ years experience with Linux and Open Source software
? Bachelor's degree in a technical field preferred; or a non-technical field with equivalent work history in the technology sector
? Ability to communicate highly technical issues clearly in writing or verbally to other highly technical team members, as well as to less technical employees
? Experience with more than one of Bash, Python, Perl, PHP and Ruby.
? Experience with Chef, Puppet or another Configuration Management system. We use Puppet in concert with Cobbler.
? Experience with MySQL database configuration and SQL.
? Experience with Apache/Tomcat and similar web application server platforms.
? Experience with SVN/CVS and repository management.
? Familiarity with cloud computing technologies particularly AWS and associated scripts as well private cloud technologies OpenVZ and Xen.
? Familiarity with clustered computing systems such as Hadoop.
? Ability to communicate highly technical issues clearly in writing or verbally to other highly technical team members, as well as to less technical employees
WHAT WE WANT YOU TO DO:
? Participate with our systems operations team in administering the company's Linux servers.
? Work closely with our development team to troubleshoot and tune production applications.
? Develop scripts and templates to automate systems upgrades and deployments using Chef, Puppet or other CM system.
? Create and maintain scripts and manage production application deployments through Jenkins.
? Write and maintain internal tools and applications to monitor and alert for systems and application issues.
? Collaborate on system design, architecture, load balancing and capacity planning.
? Configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting both internal and production customer facing applications such as Bind, Apache, Tomcat, nginx, LDAP, NFS, SSH, OpenVPN, Nagios, iptables, Amazon EC2, MySQL, memcached, couchbase and puppet.
