As part of an industry-leading Venture-backed startup on a rapid growth path, s/he will be expected to juggle multiple responsibilities: s/he will fill the hands-on operations and
IT role for the FirstFuel SaaS production systems, including both implementing new systems and maintaining existing systems, in addition to providing desktop and network infrastructure support, as needed.
S/he must be both a self-starter and a consummate team player.
Core responsibilities include:
Create and maintain production environments in Amazon Web Services, including web servers (Ruby on Rails, nginx, CentOS), application servers (Java, Tomcat, CentOS), and databases (MySQL, AWS managed service).
Own first-level support for production systems, including set-up maintenance of the cloud-based external monitoring tools like Pingdom and ServerDensity
Own, maintain and implement the company?s security policies and documentation in collaboration with engineering.
Own, maintain the company?s cloud-based tools, including Jira OnDemand, Google Apps, Amazon Web Services accounts, Zoho, DNS, and so on.
Own networking and desktop support for staff on Windows and Macintosh desktop and laptop computers.
Work will require effective cooperation with local and global teams. Most of our development is done offshore in India and some amount of flexible scheduling is required to accommodate the time zone difference.
Qualifications:
5 years hands-on experience managing Linux servers, Ruby on Rails deployment, Java, MySQL databases. This includes configuring external monitoring
A track-record of managing, maintaining, supporting and creating Amazon Web Services stacks. You?ll know you qualify if you?ve configured an AutoScaler, a LaunchConfiguration, a ScalingPolicy, and an ElasticLoadBalancer to work together. Proven familiarity with Virtual Private Clouds is a bonus.
Familiarity with Windows and Mac OS X for the desktop support.
The usual networking experience, including VPN configuration.
