Summary of Functions:
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to provide logistics and production support at our distribution center in the Charleston, SC community.
The chosen candidate will be responsible for maintaining high standards of operational activities within the company, ensuring that the quality management system procedures are implemented throughout functional groups, maintaining high productivity, quality and safety requirements in accordance with customer requirements and company needs. The Operations Manager will provide overall leadership in the areas of operational performance, customer relations, continuous improvement, and employee development. Due to the unique challenges of the industry, it is essential that applicants possess a track record of progressive success in performance-based environments that focus on customer service, urgency, and continuous improvement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Promote company-wide improvement, evaluation, and development of operational control in the following areas: costs, quality, reliability, and safety.
Responsible for implementation and maintenance of operations procedures, reporting on daily performance and initiating improvements for operations.
Responsible for frequent communication with our client participating as a key member of our leadership team.
Commit to operate as an impetus for change ? be proactive and creative specifically in matters related operational excellence and change implementation.
Ensures the highest possible service levels to client in the following areas and report daily metrics on: Receiving, Receiving Inspection, Stores, Picking, Kitting, Shipping and Inventory Accuracy.
Provide management direction, train and mentor 6+ Supervisors and a staff of 150+ hourly team members.
Recognize/develop opportunities for growth.
Manage a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for employees.
Take an active role in site workload planning and volume forecasting (i.e. staffing, equipment, space).
Informs management of performance and service related issues.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
7+ years experience in comprehensive supply chain management, including at least 4 years of experience in management of warehousing within distributions logistics.
Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience and proficiency with MRP systems and Microsoft Office.
Problem solving techniques and statistical analysis.
Experience with Lean and Six Sigma tools and processes.
