The Operations Technician is responsible for registering, processing, retrieving, and discarding
irreplaceable biological and production samples as assigned. The incumbent is accountable for
performing all assigned tasks with full attention and accuracy to maintain the integrity of the
sample and the storage processes.
Major Responsibilities, Activities and Task Statements:
1. Perform all functions methodically and in accordance with SOPs.
2. Sample Registration; this includes the handling samples at all temperatures, labeling,
creating and the storing of biological materials while maintaining the integrity of the
samples, in addition to the creation of double data entry manifests within ISISS.
3. Properly handle and store radioactive, manufactured, and drug products.
4. Retrieve and package outbound shipments and discards.
5. Perform basic retrieval problem solving under direction.
6. Generate location management and custom sample reports.
7. Perform freezer maintenance weekly and monthly, as assigned.
8. Utilize query resolutions portal to facilitate in the resolution of client inquiries.
9. Work with other team members to help on assigned projects.
10. Maintain training file and required documentation.
11. Assist with upkeep of the facility.
12. Other duties as assigned.

1. Basic Competence in Receiving displayed by participation.
2. Basic Knowledge of sample transfers.Position Specifications
? High School diploma (applicable for BST USA)
? Realschulabschluss, Abitur/Fachhochschulreife, or successful completion of an
apprenticeship in a medical and/or pharmaceutical profession (applicable for BST
? Strong detail orientation
? Organizational skills (i.e. methodical work habits)
? Efficient with physical movement
? Data entry skills ? able to type 45 wpm
? Ability to work efficiently with a team
? Proficient in Microsoft Office
? Ability to lift 50 pounds
? Degree in Life Sciences
? Previous experience handling biological specimens

Employee will be working on an area with potentially infectious materials. Employee will be
responsible for maintaining a clean work environment and enforce and follow universal
