Optical Engineer - LEDsAs Optical Engineer - LEDs, you will be responsible for developing new applications for Luminus products while providing technical expertise and product support to an international customer base as well as to the Luminus commercial team. Working closely with product development teams on innovative product platforms that integrate LEDs and optics to enable new lighting applications, you will design and develop LED based illumination systems. You will perform product and system level testing and characterization and prepare related reports.
In addition, you will provide recommendations, support, and expertise regarding optical aspects of end products to customers. Support ranges from phone and email replies to detailed analysis and characterization for strategic customers. Other responsibilities include supporting the organization and logistics of industry tradeshows, generating technical presentations, and conducting customer seminars and distributor training.
Qualified candidates will have a B.S. degree in Optics, MS preferred, with 3-5 years of related experience. Interdisciplinary work experience at the systems or subsystems level preferred. Experience in optical design, lens design, LED based illumination systems design and opto-mechanics is required, as is proficiency in optical design software such as ZEMAX, LightTools or ASAP. Previous technical experience with LEDs or opto-electronics and proficiency with photometry, colorimetry and experience with basic laboratory and data acquisition instruments, and analytical methods. Experience in CAD software is a plus. Domestic and international travel will be required (est. 25% on average).
