Optical Engineer OEwaves
DESCRIPTION
The Optical Engineer will be part of a team designing and testing miniature electro-optic systems used in microwave photonics components and systems for generation and processing of signals. Responsibilities include the design, analysis, fabrication, assembly and testing miniaturized photonic microwave devices operating at frequencies from 1 to 100 GHz. More specifically the duties and responsibilities will include:
- Design miniaturized optical assemblies including tolerance analysis
- Develop components, sub-systems, and system specifications
- Perform Risk analysis
- Identify suppliers of applicable components
- Design experiments and test setup
- Prepare review material and participation in design reviews
- Prototype assembly
- Perform verification testing
- Prepare as built documentation
REQUIREMENTS
- MS degree in Engineering or related discipline specializing in optics
- Demonstrated experience in optical design and assembly of tight tolerance devices
- Physical optics design and analysis using Zemax or related software
- Mechanical design experience using Solidworks
- Experience with optical materials properties
- Laboratory experience using standard lab equipment such as optical spectrum analyzers, RF spectrum and network analyzers, oscilloscopes, lasers and high speed IR cameras.
- Development of optical packaging
- Integration of optical materials and components
- Experience with Lab view programming, HFSS and/or CST simulation as well as COMSOL are a plus
- US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required
