The Optical Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for set up, maintenance and development of new manufacturing processes to efficiently manufacture and fabricate micro-optic and electro-optical based products for commercial and military applications. Evaluating existing processes currently being used in an R&D/prototyping environment, and designing the fabrication processes and equipment required to transition to manufacturing. The development of pilot lines to support low rate initial production (LRIP) with scalability to fully operational manufacturing lines consistent with production volume and cost targets.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Further responsibilities include, but are not limited to, manufacturing process development for both components and products, design and development of tooling and equipment for both manufacturing and R&D, evaluation of new processes and equipment for increased yield and reduced cost, participation in setup and maintenance of quality program, participation in design cycle of new products and programs to ensure producibility, setup and commission of pilot production lines to qualify manufacturing process and achieve low rate initial production (LRIP), scale up LRIP and transition to full production with yields and efficiencies consistent with volume and cost targets, and clear documentation of procedures for technicians on manufacturing floor.
