THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Summary: Qualified candidate will provide hands-on optical and opto-mechanical engineering and product design. You will be directly involved in the development of high-performance, laser/electro-optical products. Alfalight provides a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you will join a motivated and exceptionally capable cross-disciplinary team.
Conceptualize and design new products, starting from optical bench prototypes through to final prototypes. Support design efforts with test, assembly, debug. Guide ramp-up of pilot manufacturing.
Detailed optical design including integration of lasers with optics, drive electronics, and external electrical/mechanical interfaces
Work closely with marketing and engineering teams to define product requirements
Manage projects, plan activities, and monitor execution including prototype and product development schedules with a tightly integrated team
Demonstrated hands-on skill designing, developing, and debugging new electro-optical products and/or laser systems
Highly motivated, energetic, and possessing team-oriented attitude
High level of attention to detail; good oral and written communications skills; ability to provide clear, concise technical presentations and design reviews
Ability to conceptualize optical designs to meet product requirements, perform full tolerance analysis, and prototype these designs on an optical bench
Proficiency in appropriate design/analysis tools (e.g., optical/Zemax a must; mechanical CAD/SolidWorks a plus; similar tool experience accepted)
Previous industrial work experience a plus, especially handheld ruggedized electronic/electro-optical devices, military lasers/optics
Proficiency in process development and transfer for optical alignment, assembly and testing
Strong understanding of laser diode fundamentals, and detailed knowledge of spectral and spatial characteristics of single-mode and multi-mode laser diodes a plus
Experience in custom lens design is a plus
US citizenship or permanent residency status required. Prior experience working on ITAR-controlled program a plus

Bachelors? degree or higher in relevant engineering/science field. Master?s degree or higher a plus.
