BACKGROUND
Placemark Investments is an investment advisory firm registered with the Securities and Exchange
Commission. The company is privately held, with 71 employees located in offices in Dallas, Texas and
Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Placemark develops, implements, and supports wealth solutions, including Unified Managed Account
platforms and retirement solutions for broker/dealers, registered investment advisors, banks, and
family offices. As the separate account industry?s leading independent overlay portfolio manager,
Placemark coordinates multiple investment vehicles such as separately managed accounts, mutual
funds, and ETFs into a single customized portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This Oracle DBA will be the person primarily responsible for management and administration of
production, testing, and development databases which power our key business applications. A
successful candidate will be skilled in PL/SQL, Oracle 10g and 11i, ASM data management, Dataguard,
and RAC. You will be coming in at key time, able to configure a new 11i implementation on new
hardware and manage a migration off of an older 10g deployment, and set things up to best practices
right out of the gate. However, what makes this position particularly unique is that while you will have
lead responsibility for our Databases, you won?t be only constrained to that. If you have a passion for
Linux, Systems Engineering, Networking, Virtualization, Scripting, Security, or any number of other
technology disciplines, we?ll put those skills and interests to work, too. If your current position feels too

Responsibilities include:
? General database administration tasks including users, passwords, grants, etc.
? Backup and Restoration of Oracle using RMAN as well as full exports.
? Manage Database security and auditability to the compliance requirements of the business.
? Manage DR and off-site replication using RAC, Dataguard, and export automation.
? Proactive management and tuning of the Databases, as needed. ? Monitor and respond to Database events.
? Research and resolve database issues.
? Design and documentation of our database best practices and our internal procedures.
? Respond to database system outages.
? Plan maintenance events and deploy Oracle patches and updates, as needed.
? Design and deploy new Oracle installations as required by the business.
? Integrate new tools into existing monitoring infrastructure, both Nagios and OEM.
? Perform routine audits of the Databases, and propose any remediation from the findings.
? Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little
advanced notice.
REQUIRED/DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES
? Oracle 10g, 11i required
? PL/SQL required
? Oracle RAC experience required
? Familiarity with FC SAN storage architecture and concepts as applied to databases required
? Familiarity with NetApp or other FC-backed SAN desired
? Dataguard experience desired
? Oracle Enterprise Manager experience desired
? Familiarity with IP/FC multipath desired
? Linux background desired
? Shell or other scripting skills desired
? Any networking skill sets are a plus
? Any project management skills are a plus
