Oracle Database Administrator
Responsibilities:
- 7X24 Data Base support for non production data base services located in the US and India.
- General administration on database systems which includes maintaining data stores, schema objects,
security and access privileges, software installation and configuration. - Database performance tuning, backup and recovery, system architecture design including high availability.
- Developing procedures, processes and conventions to standardize database operations.
- Design, implement, maintain and automate the appropriate backup and recovery architectures.
- Build, design and operate application-specific operational scripts.
- Interface with application owners to resolve technical and business issues for which databases could be
part of the solution. - Optimize performance on database and applications.
- Capacity planning exercises to properly identify required hardware, software, database configuration/architecture necessary to support application need.
- Data Modeling, schema design and review.
- Implement monitoring, auditing and alert systems.
- Administering, configuring and supporting a disaster recovery site including cut over processing and offline processing.
Qualifications Requirements:
- 6+ years experience in IT Operations.
- 4+ years experience in 24X7 data base administration.
- 4+ years experience in administering Oracle (10g and 11i) databases.
- Experience in upgrading from Oracle10g to Oracle11i.
- Experience with Oracle RAC and high availability solutions.
- Experience with data modeling concepts and relational database theories.
- Expertise in tuning a database in high volume E-Commerce/OLTP environment.
- Previous experience working within financial applications and familiar with the intrinsic data model and
business processes associated with them. - Proficient at designing and analyzing data structures.
- Must have very good database analysis skills and technical knowledge of RDBMS environments.
- Solid experience/skills in each of the following areas:
- PL/SQL
- Stored Procedures
- Database Design
- Problem Resolution
- Application Tuning
- Oracle Configuration/Installation/Upgrades
- Oracle database and application tuning
- Shell scripting
- Oracle Enterprise Manager
- Oracle 10g on ASM
- Familiarity with business intelligence systems and managing very large databases (vldbs).
- Experience with third-party database tools through such vendors as Veritas.
- Experience in Netapps Storage.
- Experience with database replication technologies such as shareplex, GoldenGate, Oracle logical standby,
oracle streams, etc. - Experience in an ASP based production environment supporting multiple hosting sites.
- Experience in data base Load Balancing â€" Local and Global.
- Solid UNIX/Linux system administration fundamentals.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
- Strong sense of professionalism and ethics.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Procedures as well as write documentation to maintain compliance.
- Experience with full software development life cycle (SDLC) and methodologies.
- Experience working with both internal and external partners.
- Position requires immediate responses to emergencies.
- Requires effective communication with internal customers.
- Requires project management experience.
- Must adhere to all standard operating procedures.
- Must be able to effectively operate as a member of a cross-functional team
