We're looking for an amazing and passionate Packaging Engineer to join our team in NYC.
The Candidate:
You love packaging. You find yourself judging product packaging and merchandising displays as you wander through stores, and you can't help thinking that you could have done it better. You know the properties of different packaging materials and love finding new ways to use them. You know CAD and Adobe Illustrator so well you could create packaging mockups in your sleep. You are a whiz at prepping files for print and know how to talk with different vendors and manufacturers so that you your projects are done right the first time. And you would love nothing more than to cast an imaginary beam of light onto Quirky's products by helping create effective packaging designs.
The Job:
As our Packaging Engineer, you will
Be a member of Quirky's Creative team, reporting to Quirky's Head of Packaging
Serve as a reliable, right hand (wo)man to our expert Head of Packaging
Juggle multiple projects with a fast-paced company that launches 3 products per week
Be a part of something very, very big.
The Responsibilities:
Conceptualize and design innovative packaging structures in a wide variety of mediums: folding cartons, blister packs, pulp trays--the sky's the limit
Create mockups and presentations
Prepare mechanicals for print production
Manage packaging assets and communicate with vendors
NOTE: This is NOT a graphic design position
The Qualifications:
2-4 years of experience in a related field
Demonstrated experience designing blisters, clamshells, pulp trays and other package forms requiring CAD skills
Demonstrated experience designing folding cartons and other paperboard package forms in Adobe Illustrator
Knowledge of retail packaging structures, materials and specifications, and the packaging production process
Detail-oriented thinker who is able to own their projects and can multitask effectively
Stellar interpersonal skills and experience working within a team
Unrelenting intellectual curiosity and take pride in doing awesome work
Action-oriented and you have an innate entrepreneurial spirit
