Data Storage Engineer
We have a terrific opportunity in our Technical Operations team for an innovative, inspired Data Storage Engineer who is enthusiastic about large-scale, dynamic data sets. You will be able to bring your formidable experience to bear in supporting the Pandora service and our rapidly expanding community of millions of listeners.
You'll get the chance to take on complex and interesting projects as part of a fast-paced, highly collaborative team. We hold ourselves to high standards, and take pride in our work. This position is at our corporate headquarters in Oakland's vibrant, modern Uptown district near Lake Merritt, with occasional response to our Data Center locations.
Responsibilities
As a member of our Technical Operations team, you will take ownership of design decisions and help manage the company's bulk storage, file serving and backup infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to assume a lead role in designing and scaling the storage infrastructure which is critical to the Pandora service. You will document and analyze trends with respect to data types, storage locations, and data flow. You will also define, manage and perform a consistent regimen of data recovery and validation.
As a member of our highly motivated team you should be dedicated to excellence and have a strong sense of personal responsibility. This is an excellent role for a seasoned professional with experience in large-scale, distributed data storage technology and architecture.
Requirements
• Minimum 5 years experience UNIX/Linux administration, filesystems, and enterprise scale backups
• Systems and automation programming skills
• Extensive experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting high-volume, distributed storage solutions in mission-critical environments
• Significant experience with large dataset (>500TB) storage and backup
• Strong analytical skills applied to capacity trending and proactive storage planning
• Strong familiarity with host-based storage platforms
• Experience managing enterprise storage (Netapp, HDS, EMC, Isilon)
• Familiarity with Hierarchical storage management (HSM)
• Strong knowledge of security policies, regulations, and compliance; experience supporting major compliance standards such as PCI DSS, ISO 27000, NERC/FERC, FISMA, HIPAA, GLBA, SOX, etc.
• You must be self-motivated, capable of managing your time well, and work efficiently without close supervision
• Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desired
• Knowledge of data-intensive, no-SQL architectures (e.g. Hadoop, HDFS, Hive)
• Data Warehousing and/or Data Mining experience
• Experience with VMWare and Virtual Storage Solutions
• Significant training and experience in computer security practices
• BA/BS or better in Computer Science or a related field
