Purpose and Scope
The R&D Lab Assistant facilitates the smooth operations of the R&D labs. This position assists the Laboratory Manager with general operations and regulatory compliance (FDA and ISO). Other duties may be assigned by other lab personnel and will be routed through the Laboratory Manager. This is a temporary position with a maximum employment length of 12 months. The position requires 15-20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Performs routine and periodic maintenance on laboratory equipment as directed.
Monitors and updates equipment logs.
Calibrates or certifies equipment as directed.
Monitors and orders lab supplies as directed or as needed.
Cleans glassware and other lab equipment.
Autoclaves glassware and other items.
Assists in the routine cleaning and organization of the lab.
Assists with experiments and procedures in the lab.
Eventually may run experiments and procedures without direct supervision.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Organization Relationships
Reports directly to Lab Manager, R&D.
Has no supervisory responsibility.
Requirements:
Education and Training
The qualified candidate has:
a high school diploma or equivalent with coursework in biology, chemistry, and math required.
Experience and Skills
The qualified candidate has:
general computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet, e-mail and Internet knowledge.
the ability to follow directions and learn procedures.
the ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements
The qualified candidate has:
excellent manual dexterity required.
