About the Role:
The Director of Partner Development will report to the head of Partner Management and Operations. This person will be a senior member of the Partner Management group. This group is responsible for securing, developing and optimizing relationships with our Advertising and Merchant partners. This role will require strong business development and relationship management skills and, as a player/coach, this individual will be charged with leading and mentoring a small team. This team will be responsible for building new relationships with ad networks and advertisers, as well as maximizing relationships with existing customers and partners. Individuals qualified for this role will likely have established their careers in larger scale Internet organizations and successfully transitioned into more senior business development, sales, and/or account management roles within nimble, earlier stage consumer-facing Internet, e-commerce, and or related internet marketing services and products environments.
Conduct market research and devise strategy for growing WhaleShark Media's base of advertising partners. Identify & secure partnerships that will improve traffic monetization.
Establish and maintain strong relationships ranging from senior executives to marketing/media buying managers from merchants/advertisers, advertising networks and interactive agencies.
Manage the business development process from strategy/planning, pipeline development, prospecting, outreach, terms negotiation, and partnership launch.
Assist Partner Management team in developing & selling in more strategic revenue/partnership opportunities with large existing advertising partners.
Continually monitor the online coupon and deal industry to stay abreast of new ideas and to further brand presence.
Achieve new advertiser acquisition and revenue targets.
5+ years experience in online media sales or business development with a focus on securing advertising partner relationships.
At least 2 years experience hiring, developing and managing sales/business development professionals.
Deep understanding of online media including email, search, display, and social media.
Proven track record of building and managing a strong sales pipeline and setting and exceeding sales targets.
Knowledge of Salesforce.com a plus.
Outstanding communication skills in all forms: written, conversational, negotiations, presenting

Highly self motivated and enjoys working in a fast paced and results driven environment.
Strong Persuasive Communication (written & oral): Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish, develop and maintain business relationships. As well as have excellent presentation and negotiation skills.
Proven Track Record: A proven successful career history in meeting quota and executing efficiently; meeting deadlines, and focusing on specific goals.
