Patent Attorney or Agent (11-129) FibroGen

Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing patent and other intellectual property support and strategy for a global program in anemia therapies, with a particular emphasis on patent prosecution in China. The successful candidate will work with a team of in-house patent professionals and outside Chinese counsel to maintain and expand an extensive and complex patent portfolio related to small molecule therapeutics. Additional responsibilities will include analysis of 3rd party portfolios, drafting and prosecution of U.S. patent applications, and management of foreign counsel with respect to worldwide patent portfolio.

Job Requirements:

J.D. from accredited U.S. law school. Experienced patent agent with relevant expertise will be considered.
For attorney candidates: Member in good standing of California State Bar. (Or member in good standing of another state bar, prepared to sit for the California Bar exam.)
Registration to practice before U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Relevant degree and experience in pharmaceutical and biotechnological sciences, degree in organic chemistry preferred.
5 or more years of experience in patent prosecution and drafting patent applications. Experience with prosecution of small molecule therapeutics would be a plus.
Ability to travel as needed.
Proven written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on successfully drafting arguments in complex prosecution.
Experience with prosecution of pharmaceutical applications before the Chinese patent office is highly desirable.
Must be able to converse and to read relevant technical documents in Mandarin.
