Description:The Patient Account Representative reviews claims to make sure that payer specific billing requirements are met, follows-up on billing, determines and applies appropriate adjustments, answers inquiries, and updates accounts as necessary.
Duties: Process and review Medicaid primary and secondary claims.
Review and research various reports (i.e. daily status reports, not sent reports, hold reports, UB/2360 status reports, Aged Trial Balance reports).
Serves as a liaison between insurance carrier and clients.
Process Medicaid status files.
Maintain manual of billing notes, instructions, examples, emails, IDPA releases, bulletins, etc.
Assist with answering reception phone in absence of Billing Assistant.
Review Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) policy and procedure information.
Comply with HIPAA guidelines.
Other Duties as Required.
Qualifications: High school diploma (GED). Associates Degree preferred.
One to two years of high volume medical billing and/or insurance claims processing experience required.
One to two years of customer service experience preferred.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge and understanding of coding and medical insurance billing concepts: UB/2360/1500.
Knowledge of third party reimbursement processes.
