The Lead is responsible in making sure that all the necessary orders (draws) have been completed and picked up by the courier. The Lead is required to work 5 days a week and sometimes work over 40 hours a week, as well be on call. The Lead will operate as a float to cover voids, such as vacation and sick time and assist with others with heavy workloads etc. The Lead will cover in the absence of the PSC Supervisor. These duties are in addition to those of a Phlebotomist II.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Providing a chain of command between Lead and PSC Supervisor to ensure the following are completed:
1.Coach and lead the PSC Phlebotomists in all areas of phlebotomy.
2.Take all call offs from the phlebotomists and provide coverage for that PSC site.
3.Review monthly schedules to ensure coverage and to monitor overtime.
a.Must have a system to measure and keep track of individual call offs to report to the PSC Supervisor.
4.Know where all phlebotomists are. If help is needed in a particular area, the Lead will assign help. Ensure all employees know how to properly handle specimens, how to complete and submit all required documentation. Help train Phlebotomists in areas that need improvement.
5.Make sure Phlebotomists are properly following company procedures and policies.
6.Make sure phlebotomists are furnished with proper supplies and forms. The Lead is issued a company owned telephone for MEDLAB communication purposes.
7.Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Lead is responsible for directing the phlebotomists to ensure that all sites are covered.
If complaints come in from an office, the Lead will be involved with investigating and communicating with the PSC Supervisor and Account Manager.
Assist the PSC Supervisor with quality, cost effectiveness, counseling employees and compliance to MEDLAB procedures and regulatory agency requirements for all MEDLAB clients.
Provide input to the PSC Supervisor during the Employee Performance Evaluation process.
Perform Quality Checks as needed.
Attend monthly Safety meetings, Ops meetings and fill in on Conference calls if PSC Supervisor is out.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have at minimum: High School Diploma; a Phlebotomy and/or Medical Assisting Certification is preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum one year clinical phlebotomy experience as a Phlebotomist II for MEDLAB. Participates in continuing education and competency testing programs to ensure that laboratory and professional standards are met.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must maintain a valid driver?s license from the state where the primary work is performed. Phlebotomy Certification is preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to speak so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation, both in person and on the telephone.
MATH SKILLS:
- The Lead is responsible for documenting and calculating their time worked and mileage that is complete, accurate and honest. It is their responsibility to submit payroll documentation timely and in accordance with company policy.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
The Lead is responsible for data entry (activation) of all collected specimens into the MEDLAB data system. The Lead is responsible for Excel worksheets.
