Summary
The Payroll Accountant accurately and proactively manages payroll and related functions for 200+ employees in multiple states. The Payroll Accountant will be involved in the calculation of commissions, employee records maintenance, maintaining compliance with state payroll requirements, 401k processing, responding to inquiries by both employees and management, and other duties as necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
?Accurately process and transmit multi-state payroll for 200+ employees (salaried and hourly) and ensure the timely processing of payroll disbursements to employees
?Process updates from the HRIS system (Ascentis) to ADP
?Own the preparation, maintenance and reporting on of all payroll information including, but not limited to, payroll payments, liabilities and accruals
?Review and resolve payroll errors, issues and questions from both employees and management
?Proactively communicate payroll issues and resolution to affected employees, HR and manager
?Assist in the calculation of sales and account management commissions
?Create journal entries based on payroll information and reconcile payroll liability accounts monthly
?Maintain strict confidentiality around all payroll and HR related information
?Other duties as assigned (possible involvement in Treasury or Fixed Asset processes)
Requirements
?5 years or more experience in a payroll position
?Associates degree required
?Proficiency with ADP payroll system and Microsoft Office Suite
?Subject matter proficiency in payroll requirements
?Independent judgment required to plan, organize, and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
?Superb communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills required
?Ability to deal with sensitive situations with tact and proper judgment
?Able to effectively provide, receive, and respond positively to constructive feedback
?Ability to anticipate, identify and respond to changing business priorities, changes in state requirements
