Payroll Analyst Yelp
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Yelp is seeking a payroll superstar to join the Payroll Team. This is a hands-on position responsible for all payroll and related responsibilities working closely with accounting, finance, and HR functions. The successful applicant will be joining a fun, fast paced, high-growth company and will be involved in the on-going building and improving of accounting processes.
Set-up of new employees in Oracle
Preparation and processing of semi-monthly payroll (exempt & non-exempt) for employees, contractors, and interns in the US and Canada
Demonstrate complete discretion and confidentiality
Must effectively prioritize and make independent decisions to ensure compliance and accurate record keeping (compile and maintain accurate employee set-up and updated to reflect our current employee base, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time)
Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with multi-state wage and hour laws
Clearly understand other benefit related payroll transactions (FSA, Voluntary Life Insurance, STD/LTD, 401k contributions, etc)
Process off-cycle checks including final paychecks and bonuses/commissions
Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations and payroll related accounts
Ensure proper general ledger (G/L) coding
Resolve internal/external employee inquiries timely
Support internal and external payroll audit requests
Assist with other Accounting projects
The payroll analyst should be able to demonstrate the ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while meeting goals and deadlines, with a strong customer service orientation and good attention to detail. In addition, the ideal candidate must have strong communication skills, be team oriented, and have confidence in dealing with people at all organizational levels within Yelp.
Accounting degree preferred
Certified Payroll Professional certificate is desired.
5+ years in Payroll related field with a minimum of 2 years in a lead role.
Experience with ADP and prior U.S. multi-state payroll experience highly preferred.
Ability to operate independently at times with the full confidence of senior management.
Excellent leadership skills that can motivate a group to work together for common goals and inspire potential.
Understanding and application of IRS, federal, and state rules related to salaries, wages, taxes, benefits, voluntary deductions, documentation retention requirements, and annual filings.
Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws, as well as payroll and government reporting procedures, including knowledge of garnishment, levy and child support processing.
Excellent customer service skills with an ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquiries and issues.
Strong computer skills (ADP, Pay eXpert, Oracle HRMS a PLUS)
Strong Excel (macros, formula building, pivot tables, graphic presentations, etc.)
Strong oral and written communication with effective interpersonal and relationship management skills to engage individuals at all levels in the organization and outside contacts
