The role of the Payroll & General Accounting Associate is to perform bi-weekly payroll as well as all functions related to new employee setup in the payroll system, timesheet and ERP system. This person will interact closely with Human Resources. Other tasks include functions related to processing of AR and AP as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for project setup in the accounting and timesheet system to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and tracking of labor costs for internal R&D jobs.
Responsible for employee set-up in payroll and all aspects of payroll processing.
Responsible for employee set-up in Job Cost, ensure accurate posting to Job Cost Module and General Ledger.
Responsible for training new employees on timesheets.
Preparation of payroll journal entry and recording into accounting system.
Bi-weekly meetings with Human Resources on employee benefits to ensure accurate payroll benefit deductions and other employee payroll changes.
Generate AR invoices and reports for assigned clients and or specific Project Managers.
AP data entry including credit cards and expense reports as needed.
Assistance with AP vendor telephone and email requests for information.
Scanning of documents for paperless filing.
Participation in special projects as needed.
Additional duties as required.
Bachelor?s degree in accounting or finance or significant related experience.
3 to 5 years accounting experience with at least 2-3 years experience with payroll processing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively and respond efficiently to various members of the management team.
This position requires interaction with all levels of the organization, ability to work in a fast-paced, detail and deadline oriented environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Proficient in Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Previous payroll experience with Paychex or similar payroll provider.
Experience with MAS200.
Regularly required to sit for extended periods of time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, etc.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and use of computer monitor screens a great deal of time.
Individual?s primary workstation is located in an office area.
The noise level in this environment is low to moderate.
