The Payroll Specialist will report directly to the Accounting Manager of a fast paced technology company. Avalaras Payroll Specialist position provides you the opportunity to perform a variety of basic to advanced accounting functions in accordance with standard Finance department procedures. An appropriate candidate should have a proven and successful 2-3 year current track record in Payroll preparation and processing for a large, multi-state corporation. The candidate should also be current on Payroll best practices and have the drive to grow personally as well as professionally.
Prepare and process multi-state payroll for 350+ employees;
Run & review payroll audit reports to ensure 100% accuracy in payroll processing;
Prepare manual payroll checks as needed;
Ensure company compliance with all payroll rules and regulations;
Serve as payroll contact for employees issues and questions;
Maintain company payroll files;
Work with payroll vendor to insure timely W2 reporting;
Assist in the support of the annual financial statement and 401K audits.
Experience and Skills:
Minimum of 2-3 years of recent full process payroll experience (Paylocity/ADP/Paychex experience preferred);
Associates degree in Accounting or related field;
Experience and understanding of 1099/W2 reporting;
Solid understanding and working experience with Excel.
Ability to meet tight deadlines;
Detail oriented, organized and demonstrated ability to prioritize;
Ability to act independently, with minimal daily direction to accomplish objectives;
Professional communication skills with a focus on customer service for our clients, both internally and externally;
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, and problem solving in order to achieve outstanding results;
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification highly desirable
