Payroll Specialist (Part Time)

We're looking for a part time Payroll Specialist to join our team and manage payroll for Brightcove's domestic and international employees. This position will be responsible for processing and auditing the US semi-monthly payroll and monthly international payrolls. The Payroll Specialist will maintain and update a variety of payroll data to ensure that employees are paid correctly and appropriate deductions are applied.
â- Complete all personnel and payroll changes and inputs for each pay cycle
â- Prepare and review new hire, termination and leave of absence report each pay cycle
â- Participate payroll audit each pay cycle before final submission
â- Responsible for payroll items relating to external audit on a quarterly and annual basis
â- Record payroll-related entries in general ledger
â- Download, prepare and review various payroll reports after completion of payroll
â- Interpret pay policies (e.g., PTO, LOA, government regulations, withholding exemptions, etc.); ensure appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated and applied correctly
â- Work with Human Resources (HR) to track terminations, benefits, new hire information, draws, incentive compensation, and other payroll changes
â- Respond to non-routine employee payroll inquiries; provide information and resolve payroll questions
â- Obtain approval from appropriate personnel regarding payroll-related actions
â- Produce internal reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis as required
â- Complete all required federal and state compliance reporting
â- Assist with special projects as necessary
â- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
â- At least 3 years of multi-state and international payroll experience, including experience with payroll-related software and report writing, preferably with ADP, Oracle, Peoplesoft, or an equivalent
â- Experience in a public company environment is a plus
â- Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
â- Detail-oriented and self-motivated
â- Ability to prioritize and complete work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision
â- Ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization
â- Knowledge of office software, preferably MS Office (Word, Excel)
â- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of employee records and information
This part time position is regularly scheduled to work 24 hours per week.
This position is based in Boston, Massachusetts, conveniently located just a block away from South Station.
