SummaryThe Performance and Benchmarking Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer is responsible for creating and maintaining QA software for file systems testing and coordinating with multi-disciplined project groups to achieve their goals. This position requires a highly competent, results-oriented, self-directed software testing professional.
The individual is expected to be able to work with a variety of development environments and operating systems. The individual should be proficient in testing methodologies, programming and scripting languages, and various automation techniques. Must have superior problem solving skills and the ability to work in a multi-disciplined environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensuring that performance benchmarks are established for the Panasas file system (PanFS).
Operation and maintenance of the performance test lab infrastructure.
Ability to review technical software and/or hardware specifications in order to create a thorough test plan.
Responsible for the design, implementation, and execution of testing in accordance with test plan specifications.
Perform first level analysis using tracing, performance counters and other performance related tools prior to submitting defect reports.
Submission of detailed bug reports which provide enough debug information for the development teams to quickly resolve product defects.
Assist in the development of tools which will be used to improve our performance test automation infrastructure.
Ensure that work meets or exceeds project performance, reliability, and quality goals.
Occasional travel, could involve customer visits.
Requirements
5+ years industry relevant experience
Experience in Performance and Benchmark testing (2+ years would be desirable)
Thorough understanding of networking environments and HPC applications and how product changes/configurations relate to file system and application performance.
Strong programming experience in C, Perl, Tcl/Tk, or Python is a must for this role
Working knowledge of NFS, pNFS, or CIFS
Comfortable in a work environment which utilizes Linux / Unix as the operating system of choice
Thorough understanding of Software Development and QA processes, principles, and techniques
Strong analytical and communication skills
Ability to work independently and as a member of project teams
BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent
