Workday is currently hiring a Performance Engineer for the Technical Operations Environments team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about improving the performance of the Workday Application. The candidate will be concerned with browser response times and web services response times (over SOAP and REST interfaces). He or she will also analyze performance data from our production environments to ensure we're meeting customer SLAs world-wide and to detect performance slow-downs before they affect customer SLAs. The engineer will work with our Object Management System (Core Platform) performance team, our web client and web services team, and our On-Demand Ops team. The successful candidate will become a key member of Workdayâs Technical Operations team and participate in technical discussions within the immediate group and across functions, which may include articulating performance metrics, and brainstorming of solutions for addressing performance overhead.

Job Responsibilities:
⢠Evaluate the performance the Workday system using performance analysis tools, or creating tools as needed
⢠Identify performance bottlenecks throughout the system
⢠Recommend and implement code changes to remove system bottlenecks
⢠Review emergent architectures and designs to identify potential design limitations
⢠Be an advocate for getting high performance designs and implementations incorporated into the product
⢠Work with the customer support group as needed to resolve performance issues in the field
Desired Skills & Experience
⢠The qualified candidate will have at least 5 years of experience and/or training in the performance analysis, and troubleshooting of computer systems
⢠In-depth knowledge of performance analysis tools, techniques, and benchmarking.
⢠Experienced in the development of performance measurement and analysis tools.
⢠Exceptional presentation and interpersonal skills are a plus.
⢠Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and demonstrate strong influencing and leadership skills.
⢠A strong understanding of complex concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices and the following computer-system-related concepts, coupled with extensive and practical experience in dealing with those concepts:
⢠Operating systems (including at least Linux and Windows)
⢠CPU/memory architectures
⢠Good understanding and hands-on experience of advanced programming concepts (e.g. threads, exceptions and I/O)
⢠The ability to diagnose complex problems and deliver analysis of root causes.
