Performance Engineer SeaMicro
Responsibilities
Performance architect responsible for holistic system level performance - characterization, optimization and customer engagements
Characterize hardware performance across all components from CPU, I/O, operating system, database, Apache and customer specific workloads
Hadoop benchmark and customer workload profiling and optimization
Identify performance bottlenecks in the system and propose software optimizations or hardware techniques to overcome them
Spend 50% time working on application level and system performance profiling and optimization, and 50% time engaging with customers in support of the sales organization
Qualifications
5 years of experience in system architecture and/or design
5 years of experience in performance analysis of systems including operating system, managed run-time system, and application level tuning and analysis as well as optimizing analytics flows
Strong background in computer architecture and parallel architectures
Strong background in system level topics such as operating systems (Linux), databases (MySQL), compilers (C/C++), and interpreters (PHP)
Must have experience with cutting edge parallel programming frameworks such as Map Reduce and Hadoop and tools such as Hive, HBase, and Pig
Understanding and experience with key value stores. Experience with distributed and sharded databases
5 years of experience in C/C++/Java programming
Strong problem solving and debugging skills
Excellent communication skills
Experience interacting with customers and understanding customer applications, deployments and environments
Strong analytical skills of workload modelling and familiarity with queuing analysis
Candidate with MS or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering specializing in computer architecture, systems or databases
