Position: Performance Nutritionist, NFLPA Lifecycle Program

NFL Players Association (NFLPA) Lifecycle Program Overview
Athletes? Performance has partnered with the NFLPA to implement and execute the Lifecycle program. This program is designed to facilitate an effective career transition for former players, whether they are recently retired or well into their post-NFL life. Athletes? Performance takes a holistic approach to athlete development and the program will focus on the needs of the ?whole player.? It will emphasize the physical, emotional and mental well-being revolving around specific in-person and digital strategies in the area of mindset, movement, nutrition and recovery. The principle goal is to measurably enhance the health and wellness of athletes after they play professional football.

Assesses and analyzes dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) in the context of athletic performance and health.
Counsels clients on achieving and maintaining a level of body mass, body fat, and muscle mass that is consistent with good health and performance.
Provide personalized meal and snack plans to promote achieving short- and long-term goals for good health.
Addresses nutritional challenges to performance including, but not limited to food allergies, bone mineral disturbances, gastrointestinal disturbances, iron depletion, and iron-deficiency anemia, etc
Provides medical nutrition therapy, as needed, to help manage or treat medical conditions.
Counsels clients on optimal nutrition for recovery from illness or injury.
Coordinates nutritional care as a member of multidisciplinary sports medical/sports science teams.
Evaluates nutritional supplements, including herbal supplements, for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy; monitors use of appropriate supplementation.
Collaborates with the individual?s family, physician, coach, and other health professionals, as appropriate.
Develop and document nutritional and supplementation plans for each athlete, group or program.
Provide individual and group consultation and nutrition education sessions along with specific strategies for their implementation.
Computerized nutritional analysis and review with Nutribase software
Supplementation systems & coordination
Coordination, Data Collection (Validity/Reliability), Input, Analysis, Records, etc. of all available testing
Coordinate Blood Work for Appropriate Members
Present at educational symposiums
Write on behalf of Athletes? Performance
Maintain and update NFLPA Lifecycle nutrition programming as appropriate
Work closely with the performance coaching and physical therapy staff to maintain the culture of integration and provide full support through the client?s nutrition journey
Bachelor?s degree in nutrition required, Masters Degree preferred.
CSSD or CSCS certification desirable
2+ years experience in a sports nutrition or related field
Strong presentation/lecture skills
Ability to be self-sufficient and organized
Willing and flexible to travel as needed
