Photo Editor - Contractor Federated Media Publishing
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Federated Media is looking for a contract photo editor for one of its web-based custom publishing programs. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in editorial photo editing, web-based publishing platforms, content-management, and a strong knowledge of rights and copyright compliance. Most importantly they will have an unrelenting drive to source the highest quality images available within the budget constraints.
Additionally the Photo Editor must be capable of working on a high volume of content, under aggressive timelines, and have strong archive and organizational skills. News or business editorial experience is a plus.
We are looking for a someone who is able to work on a team and to take and implement direction. She/he will also be self-motivated and will take the initiative to improve the photo quality of the site. The Photo Editor will work closely with the Photo Director and senior edit team develop and maintain the overall visual strategy.
Photo research: Research and source images for a large volume of weekly editorial content. Purchase photos from approved sources.
Photo Production: Size, color correct and prep images for production. Upload image into content management systems.
Photo Management: Meet and implement all captioning/credits, asset management and archiving, usage tracking, and billing requirements set by Photo Director.
Photo Direction: Ensure all photos meet the quality standards and editorial direction set by the Photo Director and Senior Edit staff.
? 3+ years of experience as a photo editor
? Excellent knowledge of photo agencies, photo research, and editing
? Highly organized and meticulous
? Deft time management (with the ability to manage multiple projects on tight deadlines)
? Mastery of Photoshop
? Strong web-production skills, Working knowledge of Wordpress and HTML
Location: This position is off site, but there will be occasional need for on site meetings (New York City)
Hours: Business hours, 30 - 35 hours per week
Length: Commitment through Dec 31, 2013 with possibility of extension
