Photonic Research and Development Engineer OEwaves
DESCRIPTION
The Photonic Research and Development Engineer will be a part of our Technical Staff working for design and verification of opto-electronic circuits, primarily in X and Ka-band. Other duties include simulation of microwave circuits using HFSS simulation tools, modeling of opto-electronic packages, interconnect, and PCBs for broadband RF-microwave performance (1-40GHz), component prototyping, assembly, and test and characterization. Additionally, the Photonic Research and Development Engineer will work together with other members of the Technical Staff to identify improvements in the core technologies and products for expansion of core IP, and will interact with external vendors and customers.
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS
Candidate should have at least 5 years work experience in high speed RF-microwave design and simulation (preferably in combination with photonic devices), extensive experience using HFSS simulation tools for RF-microwave design from 1 - 40 GHz, familiarity with PCB Design tools, extensive laboratory experience including familiarity with standard laboratory instrumentation, basic machining tools, micro-device assembly (e.g. wire bonding, die attachment, etc.), and experience in LabView programming for instrument control and data acquisition. Additionally, candidate should have familiarity with photonic component suppliers for lasers, laser drivers, photodiodes, modulators, etc. both at the module and package level.
The desired candidate will have demonstrated expertise in RF design including resolving resonances, crosstalk, broadband impedance matching, etc.; and a fundamental understanding of EMI issues with demonstrated experience in solving EMI via design.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- BS in Engineering or Physics required, MS or Ph.D. desirable.
- Requires US Citizenship.
