DescriptionAssociated Content is looking for a PHP Developer/Software Engineer to build new consumer applications on top of AC's Content Management System. Use your PHP experience to create highly usable applications within AssociatedContent.com's component based architecture. Millions of people will use the applications you design each and every day.
Applicants should have a strong working knowledge and a solid understanding of object oriented application design and the confidence to apply this knowledge to web application development.
The success of this position will be measured by the timeliness, usability, and quality of the applications. This position is part of a dynamic, high-energy Application Development team.
Responsibilities:
Your role will be to develop and maintain applications that allow consumers to search and transact with a wide range of services. You will be responsible for:
- Developing Web applications using PHP
- Building features with JavaScript, XML, CSS, DHTML and HTML
- Design and development of MYSQL databases
- Taking ownership of the quality and usability of the application
- Partnering with Content Contributors, Product Management, QA, and Services Delivery to understand business requirements and translate them into high quality applications
Job Qualifications:
- Applied experience with PHP (or similar web based language) and any of these languages a plus: JavaScript, AJAX, XML, CSS, DHTML and HTML
- Object Oriented development skills and building online applications
- Experience with database design and development with MSSQL, MYSQL or Oracle
- Optional experience with other languages and technologies a plus: C, Shell Script, PERL, OO frameworks
- Experience with Linux platform
- BS/BA in Computer Science or related working experience
- Have a passion for usability, strong project management skills, excellent written and oral communication skills
- Able to collaborate and thrive in a fast-paced high-performance environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge / experience with the Prototype, jQuery and/or Script.aculo.us Javascript libraries.
