POSITION SUMMARY:
Exa Corporation is seeking a Physics Validation Engineer to work on the core technology development of the PowerFLOW products for both software and new physics. You will be responsible for the verification and validation of novel numerical methods and physics modeling approaches in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), work as a part of the research and development team to develop cutting edge CFD techniques/products that can impact industrial products worldwide, this position offers the unique opportunity to work with leaders in the fields of Lattice Boltzmann Methods (LBM) and flow turbulence modeling.
As a Physics Validation Engineer you will:
? Be responsible for verification and validation studies that compare fluid simulation product results with experimental tests, theoretical solutions, and other numerical results.
? Develop test plans for product (including prototypes) verification and validation. This includes designing and executing benchmark studies for physics developments and software implementations; analyze/benchmark CFD simulation results against known quantities; carry out technical research and document/present results.
? Play a key role in new product development, interacting closely with the physics and software development teams to verify and validate numerical methods, physics modeling approaches and software implementations, transition product prototypes through all phases of the development into product release.
? Act as a liaison between customers, physics, software, and management teams to arrive at meaningful solutions for issues involving both product and development code.
? Analyze and diagnose issues related to physics models, software implementation, and usage for a wide range of physical cases involving academic and industrial flows and report on the results.
REQUIREMENTS:
? MS or PhD degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
? Academic background in fluid dynamics or physics, familiarity with incompressible/compressible flows, fluid turbulence and turbulence modeling is preferred.
? In-depth understanding of fluid mechanics, numerical methods and computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
? Strong problem-solving skills and work ethic; detail oriented with excellent organizational skills, ability to thrive in fast paced environment.
? Effective English oral communication skills and good presentation/teaching skills.
? Strong computer skills, especially UNIX/Linux.
? Ability to apply these skills cooperatively in a team of experienced professionals.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCES:
? Experience with turbulent wall boundary layer (TWBL) modeling approach in CFD is a plus.
? Specific exposure to traditional or Lattice Boltzmann CFD methods is encouraged.
? Rudimentary experience in CAD geometry modeling, dirty geometry fixing and surface mesh generation is a plus.
? Experience with HPC and scripting languages (Python, shell, Perl ?) is a plus.
