In partnership with the University of Southern California, 2U manages a high quality and innovative Masters Degree in Teaching (MAT) program delivered online. The Placement Coordinator, Post Enrollment Services is responsible for the management 2U services related to support of students as they progress through their degree by securing fieldwork placements each term. These services are provided in partnership with the University of Southern California, Rossier School of Education.
This position interacts directly with students, state agencies, University staff and is responsible for assisting students as they complete their program to ensure they meet their academic requirements as well as the fieldwork requirements prescribed by their state to successfully apply for that state?s teaching credential. This position is a critical component in executing 2U?s expected white glove service level for its students and graduates.
This position will require knowledge of K-12 Education, the policies and procedures by which, a student can receive their credential and will require extensive outreach and interaction with schools, districts, and other education agencies to fully support the students? progression through the USC Rossier Online Program. In addition, this position will also interact frequently with the other 2 branches of Post Enrollment Services (Academic Advising and Student Support). The candidate will need to have a strong customer service orientation to assist students in fulfilling the mission of the USC Rossier Online Program.
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
Support the placement of student teachers for observations, site visits, and student teaching as directed by a Team Lead or Manager of Placement Services.
Responsible for the process by which our students gain access to schools; collecting and relaying background checks, state credential testing, and medical tests to the schools/districts requiring such documentation.
Work directly with students to determine their preferred location as well as their limitations to travel outside that location based on geography, access to transportation, family circumstance, etc.
Troubleshooting and issue resolution as needed by working with schools, districts, and/or students to resolve problems.
Work to establish new relationships in areas that USC has not previously secured placement.
Connect students their Student Support and Academic Advisors to ensure the student is aware of all programmatic requirements and changes to schedules and courses.
Ensuring consistent operation of the department in accordance with all university policies and state regulations.
Developing and implementing student outreach and communication plans.
In collaboration with marketing, creating training and student support materials.
Things That Should Be in Your Background
Bachelor?s degree required (Education background and advanced degree preferred) with at least 3 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Knowledge of the K-12 Education profession and practices.
Additionally, knowledge of the dynamics that exist in public K-12 districts and schools based on the current climate and perceptions of public education.
Strong customer service background and proven ability to manage cross-functional tasks and complex processes.
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
