Plant Molecular Biologist- Transgenics\Genetic Engineering Chromatin

Chromatin is seeking highly motivated, analytical, and creative individuals with experience in plant genetics, genomics and molecular biology to join our molecular biology and trait discovery team in Chicago, IL. Applicants should have significant expertise in DNA/RNA techniques , specifically, cloning and manipulation of large DNA constructs, BAC libraries and clones, gene stacking, sequence analysis, transgenic plant characterization. Understanding and some hands on experience, of metabolic engineering, plant tissue culture and transformation is preferred. Experience in an industry setting is highly desirable. This position will involve both independent research as well as team- based activities for Chromatin's mini-chromosome gene stacking technology and trait discovery programs. The successful candidate is expected to support aggressive research programs designing and constructing DNA constructs and mini-chromosomes for transformation of sorghum, sugarcane, corn, and other crops.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
BS, MS or Ph.D. with at least 2+ years of molecular biology work experience
Knowledge of wide range of plant molecular and cell biology techniques
Proven rigor in experimental design, optimization, data interpretation, and analysis
High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to complete tasks
Demonstrated record of creative and innovative thinking
Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
