This position is part of RIM's recently acquired Gist group, located in Seattle's historical Pioneer Square. In this role you will experience the best of the start-up Agile environment, while working directly with highly distributed and scalable solutions. We work in a dynamic environment that utilizes multiple programming languages on various platforms. Our product is an extremely powerful "personal relationship management" social networking tool that proactively delivers you the most important information about your key relationships.
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Platform Developer at GIST, the successful candidate will design and develop the core platform for all GIST software products. You will work closely with cross-functional development teams throughout RIM, as well as external partners, to create design concepts, specifications, and prototypes for BlackBerry smartphones and a range of web-based and desktop-based products. Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
1-3 years Ruby on Rails experience
5-7 years web development experience (Java)
Experience architecting web search technologies and/or content feed management systems
Experience managing high traffic site (Memcached, load balancing, distributed applications)
Deep database knowledge and/or key/value stores (MySQL, Cassandra preferred)
Extensive Linux/Unix experience
Knowledge of Web 2.0 landscape (what sites do you use?)
Data mining experience a major plus!
