Blurb is based in San Francisco with offices in London.
The Role:
Blurb is building a unique media creation platform, allowing creative professionals to author high quality on-demand print books as well as enhanced eBooks, featuring video and audio. Blurb's Platform Services team designs and builds the core APIs and services that enable Blurb's print and digital media products. Our services support the entire creation workflow, from authoring, publishing, ordering to delivery. The team is looking to hire a Senior Engineer to help scale up our existing services and build services to support new digital media products. The ideal candidate has both Java and Rails experience, and has worked with large scale B2C environments.
Responsibilities:
Design and build backend services to support print and digital media products
Architect and profile services to ensure scalability and performance at peak load
Collaborate with DevOps team to add instrumentation and monitoring to support production environments
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years experience developing in Java
Experience building at scale and understanding how to architect systems that are easy to monitor, maintain and extend
Experience with Ruby/Rails and RESTful API design
Experience with SQL and NoSQL
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
