The Platform Software Engineer is Quantcast?s full stack software engineering generalist. This is the person that will build the platforms that power our customer facing services and develop new and better iterations of our products. You'll be joining a team with a cross-disciplinary mix of data, web and mobile development skills. The right applicant will possess versatility and be able to pick the right tool for each task and have opinions about why. He or she will also love big, open-ended challenges such as re-engineering the company's core advertising systems to be scalable, service-based platforms capable of keeping up with a rapidly growing business.
Some Projects this Role works on?.
Online Measurement
Building new features for our measurement applications that will be viewed and used across the entire Web ecosystem
Mobile
Brand new mobile projects that range from prototyping to designing data schemas for both Android and iOS applications
Scaling Tools
Developing toolsets that support a number of core business operations at Quantcast
Quantcast Audience
Building automation architecture to drive Quantcast advertising systems and building new service-based platforms for client-side applications
Responsibilties:
Maintain, scale, and optimize existing mission-critical data pipelines and applications that make up Quantcast?s core products
Provide guidance on QC?s petabyte-scale data processing infrastructure and create tools, scripts, and libraries to fit pre-production applications to production
Requirements:
Passionate about software development
BS in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent experience
Strong utility player, versatile and capable of picking up new technologies quickly
Understanding of underlying protocols of the internet
Interest in the next generation of programming languages on the JVM (Scala, etc.)
Excellent command of one or more of the following languages (ie Java, Python, Ruby)
You should have strong opinions on why at least one of these languages sucks: Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, Javascript, PHP
Ability to make independent decisions based on product requirements
Database: SQL, preferably Postgres or MySQL
