THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED This position ensures that dinner service and daily prep tasks are punctual, high quality and safe/sanitary. As an employee in an open kitchen environment, this cook must consistently exhibit strong knife skills, time management, friendly customer service, and attention to detail. The role requires independence and trustworthiness as he or she will often be the person responsible for closing the kitchen each night.
-Application note: Airbnb will accept applications until Monday, September 2nd. There will be a group hiring event at Airbnb headquaters in SF on Thursday, September 5th from 9:00am-11:00am. We will be inviting candidates on a rolling basis, so the sooner you get your application in, the better. You must be available to attend the group hiring event to be considered for the role.
Support lunch/dinner production through prepping, cooking, and serving.
Prepare lunch/dinner items in coordination with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef.
Setup, service and breakdown of dinner buffet and signage. Store and label leftovers.
Follow directions and preparation lists as outlined by kitchen management.
Clean and maintain kitchen stations in accordance with all safety and sanitation guidelines.
Collaborate on evening events and close kitchen.
Help guests, answer questions and fulfill customer requests.
Skills and Qualifications
2+ years experience in a formal kitchen environment with a passion for product, presentation, and teamwork. Relevant experience will be considered.
Excellent attendance and punctuality is required with schedule flexibility determined by needs.
Commitment to quality service, food and beverage knowledge.
Basic understanding of professional cooking and baking techniques, and knife handling skills, local and seasonal ingredients, and diverse cooking styles and cultures.
Understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
Flexibility and ingenuity. Willing to work with alternative approaches and overcome challenges and limitations.
Good knowledge of local products, producers, and farms.
Familiarity with raw, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, paleo, and whole grain recipes and products a plus.
Schedule 1:00PM-9:30PM. With flexible schedule and availability based on special events.
This position will spend 100% of the time standing.
Behaves professionally and can be flexible in a changing environment.
Must easily be able to lift 50+ pounds.
