TechStart Program:
The nCircle TechStart Program is an 18 - 24 month program geared toward entry-level technical positions at nCircle. It is intended for very smart, motivated, college graduates with technical degrees who possess solid technical knowledge and the ability to learn the particular unique technology used at nCircle. Members of this program are responsible for delivery of content-related work throughout our product suite as well as other functions. The specific components of nCircle's products and services that are delivered by our TechStart engineers are subject to change over time, but in the near-term planned to include such work as Benchmark Data Adapters, Benchmark Metrics & Scorecards, Business Intelligence-platform Based Reports and building Compliance Policies.
Job Summary:
This position involves building and testing compliance polices derived from 3rd party security benchmark standards for nCircle's Configuration Compliance Manager (CCM).
General Overview:
The Policy Content Engineer position is an entry-level opportunity for someone who has a strong desire to learn about how security compliance software is designed, built and tested. S/he will be part of a team of highly experienced software engineers and QA engineers on an agile team working on policy content for the nCircle CCM product. The Policy Content Engineer will gain vast knowledge in IT security, compliance and networking. The successful candidate must be flexible, listen well and willing to learn quickly.
Specific Responsibilities:
Install and configure lab machines, virtual systems, databases, and 3rd party security software products to setup the environments for testing
Able to read and interrupt a security benchmark
Willingness to work with a wide array of Operating Systems, Applications and platforms
Test the output work from other engineers and critically evaluate the accuracy of the data produced
Assume responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work assigned
Diagnose and resolve bugs identified by customer support and QA
Required Skills and Experience:
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field
Understanding of basic SQL databases - experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL all a plus
Strong analytical skills, high-level detail and follow through
Aptitude for problem solving and process improvement
Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, LUA, PowerShell or similar, a big plus
Experience with Windows, UNIX, Database Administration, Cisco IOS, a big plus
Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of information security a plus
Knowledge of Security and Compliance standards such as SCAP, USGCB, CIS, NIST, a big plus
Interest in understanding how security products work a must
