Polymer Scientist Esionic
eSionic is an emerging company that is developing high performance electrolytes for energy storage applications. The company is seeking a scientist with a strong background in polymer chemistry, with an emphasis on Li-ion battery technology. The selected candidate will play a key role in characterizing and developing novel polymer electrolytes for use in Li batteries.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibilities involve characterization and development of Li batteries. Specifically:
Research and develop new polymer electrolyte formulations and coating process of polymer electrolyte membrane
Design and conduct experiments to characterize, understand, and improve the performance of polymer electrolyte membrane and other cell components
Build prototype devices such as coin cells and pouch cells
Employ design-of-experiment (DOE) approach to optimize cell parameters to meet the requirements of customers
Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science or a related field with focus on polymer science
Extensive knowledge and understanding of Li polymer battery technology
Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience with polymer electrolyte process, Li ion and/or Li polymer battery fabrication and characterization
Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Ability to design and conduct complex experiments, employ a variety of materials/surface characterization techniques, use DOE approach, apply various theories to interpret experimental results and correlate the results with product performance
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to work as a team player in a multi-functional environment
