Scope of Position
Vocera Communications is seeking a Desktop Support to support our growing company. You will be responsible for providing our corporate employees with desktop support and improving operational processes and procedures. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of computer systems with a focus on customer service. We are looking for a service oriented individual with some computer experience and excellent communication skills that can take ownership of the Service Desk. Based at our headquarters in San Jose, CA, you will work with the IT team to provide IT support for internal customers.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1st level end-user support for desktops, laptops, printers and other hardware/software issues for onsite and remote users
- Maintain and support accounts in Active Directory, telephony system and business applications
- Develop standards and improve process and procedures related to Service Desk
- Prioritize workload and manage incoming request queues
- Build and maintain images for client computer deployments
- Troubleshoot and resolve desktop hardware/software issues effectively in a timely manner
- Communicate service outages to end users proactively minimizing impact
Education, Skills & Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent experience
- Any technical certifications are a plus.
- 2 to 3 years of experience working in HelpDesk or Desktop Administrator role
- Experience with Outlook/Exchange along with other Microsoft Office applications
- Understanding of Active Directory strategies and deployments, including daily management tasks
- Knowledge and experience with virtualization technologies helpful
- Experience with Blackberry Enterprise Server and other mobile technologies
- Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking and ability to diagnose problems in the client environment
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks within a dynamic environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Antivirus/Spyware, spam reduction and patch management tools
- Strong analytical skills, with a capability to resolve issues in a timely and structured manner
- Willingness and ability to learn new technologies
