We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can join a small, dynamic team working on a break-through product in a start-up environment and contribute immediately. We are in the process of going to market with a new product that scales out existing relational databases. Scaling is on demand with the power of multiple database servers acting as one. We would like to add an experienced Pre-Sales Systems Engineer, reporting to the VP of Sales and Business Development, who will be responsible for supporting direct and indirect sales. This start-up minded creative individual who is willing to do what it takes will play a key role in moving the business forward. This person will help define the culture and be a positive impact on the team and prospects/clients. Major activities include technical sales presentations and demos, trust building, and proof of concepts. In addition, the Pre-Sales Engineer will provide feedback to the development team.
Responsibilities Include:
Work with sales to identify, qualify, develop, and close business opportunities
Deliver technical presentations and product demos highlighting product value and benefits
Deliver Proof of Concepts and other product evaluations
Become trusted asset/advisor to prospects and partners
Resolve any issues surfaced during sales process
Provide product requirement feedback to development
Assist with customer and partner implementations
Active involvement in execution of both pre and post-sales support process and training
Other duties as required
Requirements
Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills
5+ years in technical selling as a systems engineer or database engineer
Competence in SQL and administration of relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgrSQL
Excellent knowledge of Java
Experience with SaaS and Cloud
Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, start-up environment
Self starter
Willingness to travel
Desired
Experience with Drupal and other open source content management systems
Experience with Social Gaming and eCommerce
