Primary Care Physician Iora Health
THIS JOB HAS EXPIRED Are you an Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician who would like to join us in reinventing Primary Care at our Newest Medical Practice in Boston, MA?
Introduction to Iora Health
Iora Health was founded in 2010 with one goal-- to restore humanity to health care, starting with reinventing primary care. Headquartered in Cambridge, we have already opened 4 practices around the country including here in Boston. We are looking for a Primary Care Internist or Family Medicine Physician to join our newest practice in the greater Boston area.
The Iora model puts patients first, focusing on team-based care with Physicians, Nurses, Behavioral Health Specialists and Health Coaches working closely together to help our patients achieve their health goals. We combine the best of modern technology, evidence-based medicine, and advances in teamwork to create a culture that grows and learns together, pushing the boundaries of what is possible for our patients. We are able to accomplish this because we fundamentally change the way we are paid for our work. No longer are we constrained by traditional fee-for-service payment with its overemphasis on face to face visits, inane documentation and severe limits on teamwork and delegation. Iora physicians enjoy the benefits of smaller panel sizes, close relationships with patients, no billing or coding, true teamwork and the opportunity to lead systemic change in health care delivery.
Most importantly, Iora patients enjoy the benefits of improved access to care, no visit co-pays, options for non-office based encounters (e.g. phone, text messages, and email), group visits, yoga, cooking classes, an accessible and transparent medical record, and robust educational offerings. Our teams work collaboratively to creatively remove the barriers between patients and their health.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
As an Iora physician, you will work closely with the practice Medical Director to play a critical role in both care delivery and ongoing practice innovation. Specific areas of focus include:
Providing Primary Care within the practice, including face-to-face visits as well as non-visit based interactions (e.g. phone, email, groups, home visits, video chat)
Supervising and teaching a team of Health Coaches, who, based on a community health worker or promotora model, will build strong relationships with patients, help patients set self-management goals, improve self-efficacy, and support clinical work
Evolving the way we care for our patients through creative innovation of care delivery; contributing to practice improvement activities and across our practice network
Communicating and marketing the Iora practice model to new patients as well as other stakeholders such as the medical community
Developing a medical network with outside medical consultants, hospitalists, emergency room providers, support services, and others
We are looking for a board certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine physician who has or is able to obtain a Massachusetts license. The ideal candidate will be an excellent clinician, a systems thinker, technologically savvy, excited to work in a interdisciplinary team, value service to our patients, and revel in uncertainty and ambiguity. Ability to build successful relationships with team members (who have a wide range of professional training) by working without ego and with strong collaborative spirit is an essential attribute. Candidates with work experience outside of medicine, and those with other advanced degrees or specialization are encouraged to apply. Spanish language fluency a plus but not required.
