Iora Health, one of the most exciting new companies trying to reinvent the health care system, is looking for a primary care physician for a new practice in Las Vegas Iora Health has a mission to offer a revolutionary new and improved model of primary care. Using the best available evidence, expert opinion, and technology, the Iora model reinvents primary care with a radically changed staffing model, payment model, and our own information technology platform.
The Iora model puts patients first, freeing us from traditional fee-for-service payment and its constraints on creative patient care, documentation and team staffing. Iora patients enjoy the benefits of improved access to care, non-office based encounters (e.g. phone, text messages, and email), an accessible and transparent medical record, and robust educational offerings. Iora physicians will enjoy the benefits of smaller panel sizes, closer relationships with patients, no billing or coding, and the opportunity to lead systemic change in health care delivery while working with a true team.
Las Vegas Growth and the Downtown Project
After the success of the Culinary Extra Clinic (launched in early 2012 in collaboration with the Culinary Health Fund), we are now expanding our presence in Las Vegas. Through an exciting partnership with the Downtown Project (led by Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh), Iora Health is opening a new primary care medical practice to serve the Downtown Las Vegas community.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The Iora physician will work with the Regional Medical Director to play a critical role in both care delivery as well as the ongoing design. Specific tasks will include:
Delivering professional services within the practices, including both traditional face-to-face visits as well as non-visit based interactions (eg. phone, email, groups, home visits, video chat)
Supervising and training a team of health coaches, who, based on a community health worker or promotora model, will help patients to set self-management goals, improve self-efficacy, and support physicians.
Participating in the evolution of our model by contributing to practice improvement activities.
Participating in communicating and marketing the Iora practice model to new patients as well as other stakeholders such as the medical community, payers, and the press.
Developing a medical network with outside medical consultants, hospitalists, emergency room providers, support services, etc.
We are looking for someone trained and board certified/eligible in family practice who has or can obtain a Nevada medical license by August 2013. Recent graduates of residency programs are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be an excellent clinician, a systems thinker, technology savvy, personable, be able to think out of the box, and value customer service and efficiency highly and able to deal with uncertainty in a creative and flexible manner. Candidates with work experience outside of medicine, and those with other advanced degrees or specialization are encouraged to apply. Spanish language fluency preferred (but not required).
