Summary:
Performs tasks of major scope autonomously within any of the portions (inception, definition/planning, implementation/verification and test) of the ISO 9001 ASIC development flow. These tasks may require concept definition, proposal development, requirements analysis, resource/tool/equipment identification, schedule development, architecture definition, ASIC specification, HDL (Hardware Description Language) design entry, functional simulation, Netlist synthesis, gate-level simulation, system-level simulation, static timing analysis, test vector generation, prototype characterization, system board test, ICD (Interface Control Document) and CID (Configuration Index Document) preparation.
May require providing technical data to Marketing in response to customer requests. May require peer review of designs and making recommendations for design optimization. May provide technical guidance and design consultation expertise. May require consolidating results of major design consultation expertise. Requires review of applicable documents for information. Requires reporting of work results. May require preparation of simulation or test plans. May require defining formats for plan preparation and results reporting. May require review of technical literature, patents and industry current practices. May require development and application of theory, methods and research techniques. May require evaluation of vendor products, services and capabilities. May require the specification of equipment, materials and tools. May require preparation of position papers (white papers). May require review of project progress, evaluation of results and formulation of go-forward plans.
Qualification Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, other related discipline or equivalent experience.
Preferred Master of Science or PhD
Experience:
BS- 8-10 years of applicable ASIC development experience.
MS- 4-6 years of applicable ASIC development experience.
PhD-2-4 years of applicable ASIC development experience.
Skills:
Knowledge of theory and practice in some areas within the professional field.
Team work and communication skills
Ability to apply theory and practice under close supervision for project success, quickly learn new areas.
Well-regarded within the organization for beginning contributions to project success and potential future growth.
Proven track record of project success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Concept definition.
Proposal development.
Requirement analysis.
Resource/tool/equipment identification.
Schedule development.
Architecture definition/ASIC specification.
Preparation of simulation or test plans/ ICD (Interface Control Document) preparation and CID (Configuration Index Document) preparation.
Other tasks as required.
