Position Summary
As a member of the business analytics team, the Principal Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for delivering actionable insights from educational data. A Principal BI Developer is expected to design, develop and perform unit testing of the GlobalScholar business intelligence solutions.
Key Duties / Responsibilities
Design, plan, develop, test, document and maintain best-in-class BI capabilities, including data warehouse data structures, ETL jobs, OLAP cubes and SSRS reports
Collaborate with technical development team teams to validate designs
Follow SDLC methodology to ensure delivery of a high quality product.
Ensure accuracy & Integrity of data & applications through analysis, coding and writing clear documentation
Estimates design capacity and costing efforts to meet near-and long-term design requirements
Excellent communication, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills, problem solving and analytic skills
Expert understanding of business applications or products being developed
Expert design/coding skills, testing methodologies and techniques in a minimum of one Object Oriented Programming language.
Ability to lead complex technical discussions on application design, integration, and overall technology solutions and design.
Helps develop application and data warehouse and strategic direction.
Defines and ensures standards for technology and business process are established and adhered to.
Ability to lead design reviews with peers
Provide effective and accurate estimates on development activities
Supervisory Responsibility
Supervisory/people management skills preferred for potential team leadership responsibilities, in addition to mentoring and guiding more junior staff members.
Communication & Contacts Required
Ability to author, present, and explain technical information to diverse types of audiences (including management, customers, suppliers, and technical staff).
Ability to establish strong working relationships with internal business and IT resources.
Ability to professionally interact with customers, suppliers, and other external business and IT resources.
Ability to establish and maintain relationships with professional associations and groups
Decision Making
As a senior member of the Business Intelligence Development Team the Senior Business Intelligence Developer will be expected to make critical technical decisions in regard to design, development and implementation of developed solutions.
Ability to evaluate technical alternatives and recommend solution approach.
Ability to interact with business leaders and identify potential technology requirements and direction .
Ability to evaluate various technical solutions and determine /communicate/implement best approach

Qualifications
Education & Knowledge Required
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Intelligence or applicable discipline.
Advanced degree a plus
Mastery of Data Warehouse principles, approaches, and information delivery practices
Experience with Enterprise Reporting tools; Business Objects, SSRS
Completion of training and /or certification programs a plus
Experience / Skills / Abilities Required
8+ years experience in BI/data warehousing development required
Has demonstrable understanding and discipline for a full life cycle development effort and active participation in the development phases.
Very strong knowledge of MS SQL Server (SSIS, SSAS, SSMS) and database structures required
Experience developing complex SQL queries and stored procedures required
Experience with ETL tools and processes, and the ability to performance tune large data extractions required
Knowledge of OOP (C# or Java) required
Strong understanding of dimensional modeling and OLAP. Experience building OLAP cubes a plus
Experience developing educational reporting systems and SSRS desirable
Experience with data visualization tools desirable
Strong problem solving and analytic skills
Ability to translate business needs into technical specifications
Ability to independently research and solve complex technical problems
Strong project management and organizations skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving company environment
Excellent communication skills
