As Principal Data Engineer you will explore and examine data from multiple sources with the goal of finding, organizing, cleaning, sorting and moving over a petabyte of data. You will help design, build and manage the 'big data' infrastructure. You will develop architecture to analyze and process data in the way the organization needs and help ensure those systems are performing smoothly.
Candidates must have an entrepreneurial instinct and a high comfort level dealing with ambiguity and at times lack of resources. A creative solutions oriented type personality is critical to anyone in this team.
You will be responsible for utilizing varying techniques and theories from fields like computer science, business intelligence, data architecture and data engineering to organize our vast data assets and create data products and analytics for publishers and advertisers.
? Explore, examine, understand and organize data from the multiple sources that comprise the vast Federated Media data asset.
? Evolutionary data mining and modeling with large complex data sets, leveraging statistical analysis and pattern recognition algorithms.
? Develop, implement, and refine data engineering solutions for structured and unstructured data in support of Federated Media?s digital business.
? Design and implement dimensional data models that scale.
? Partner with analyst teams to build data products, discover opportunities and deliver business insights.
? BS or higher in Computer Science or related field
? 4+ years experience working as a developer in agile software engineering teams, data warehousing or BI teams
? Ability to apply software engineering experience and skills to understand and utilize big-data pipeline architectures in a high performance / velocity environment.
? Crafting distributed reporting processes utilizing tools/concepts/stores like Hadoop, MapReduce, Pig, Hive, Cassandra and RDBMs.
? Expertise troubleshooting data quality issues, analyzing data requirements, and iterative product lifecycle ownership.
? A strong desire to build data products that drive insights from Federated Medias vast data assets.
